How to Troubleshoot Touchscreen Issues in Windows 10 & Windows 11

The Touchscreen is not working and stopped due to many reasons the touchscreen not responding properly might be driver compatibility or a touchscreen might calibration issue in Windows 10 & Windows 11 or the touchscreen surface might be dirty.

Here step by step guide on how to resolve the touchscreen issue.

 

1. Restart the System

2. Clean the Touchscreen

3. Calibrate the Display

4. Enable the touchscreen  or Uninstall the Touchscreen driver

5. Update the Drivers & BIOS

6. Adjust the Power Management

7. Update the Windows

8. Restore the Windows

 

1. Restart the System

Restarting the system resolves many issues and clears the RAM if any other issues like slowness and an unresponsive touchscreen. before restarting, save any unsaved files then restart the system and check.

2. Clean the Touchscreen or Display

  1. Clean the Touchscreen or display with the help of the microfiber dry cloth.
  2. Don’t use any liquid to clean the touchscreen it may damage the display.

Note: Refer to the manufacturer’s manual on how to clean the touchscreen or display to avoid such damages.

 

3. Calibrate the touchscreen

Touchscreen calibrates how the touchscreen functions normally.

Here are a few steps to calibrate the touchscreen.

  1. Go to the search bar and type control panel and open from the menu.

2. Click on hardware and sound.

3. open the tablet PC setting or under the tablet PC setting click on calibrate the screen for a pen or touch input.

4. Click the tablet PC setting then click on calibrate and follow the onscreen instructions.

 

4. Enable the Touchscreen.

How to Enable Touchscreen on Windows 1o, Windows 11.

If the touchscreen stopped working or is unresponsive it might be disabled the driver so enable the touchpad in the device manager if already enabled then uninstall it and reinstall the touchpad driver.

  1. Go to the Search bar and type Device Manager or press the windows key and R key together so the run command will open then type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

2. In the view tab, you should click on “Show Hidden device

3. Expand or double-click on the Human Interface Devices.

4. Select and right-click on the HID-complaint touch screen and Enable it if you are disabled the touchscreen driver.

Now check if the touchscreen starts working or not if the issue still persists or is already enabled then uninstall the touchscreen drivers.

5. Select and right-click on the HID-complaint touch screen and click on uninstall.

 


Tick mark on the check box “the delete the driver software for this device“.

6. Once done restart the system and check.

Windows will attempt to reinstall the drivers automatically.

 

5. Update the Drivers and BIOS

The latest drivers always keep running smoothly without any issues arising so refer to your system manufacturer’s site support and keep running the latest drivers and BIOS.

Periodically updates are a good habit for running a smooth operation on how to update the drivers on your computer either manually or automatically.

6. Adjust the Power management

If any unknown power setting caused the touchscreen to stop working or unresponsive after the system wakes from sleep mode.

1. Go to the Search bar and type Device Manager or press the Windows key and R key together so the run command will open then type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

2. In the view tab, click on “Show Hidden device”.

3. Expand or double-click on the Human Interface Devices.

4. Select and right-click on the HID-complaint touch screen and click on properties.

5. In the power management tab, uncheck or clear allow the computer to turn off this device to save power then click ok and restart the system and check.

7. Update the Windows

Windows updates with the latest one can solve many issues like touchscreen, malicious, and other specific applications and the system runs smoothly and protect in many ways.

  1. Go to settings or simply click on the Windows key + I key to open the settings.

2. Click on Updates & Security.

3. Make sure Windows is up to date.

4. Once installed latest Windows then restart the system and check if the touchscreen issue is resolved or not.

 

 

8. Restore the Winows

If the issue still persists even after following the above steps with the various troubleshooting but do not worry further, windows system restoration will resolve the issue.

If the System restore point is not available or not created you can Reset the windows or reinstall the windows 

  1. Go to the control panel.

3. Click on System Restore.

4. Click on next.

5.  Click the latest restore point.

6.  Click on finish and follow the onscreen instructions.
